Gesar Hotel is a 3.5-star hotel in Shigatse, newly built and nicely decorated with traditional furniture. Large and comfortable rooms with great Tibetan decorations. Beds are very comfortable, heating is availalbe to keep the room warm as the buildings all get very cold once the sun goes down. Free wifi. Ensuite bathroom with hot water. Breakfast is just ok, some steamed buns, different vegetable. The hotel is situated opposite a convenient store where you can buy cheap beers and supplies and is a walking distance to a street filled with restaurants.

It’s advertised as 4 stars, but it’s more likely to be a 3-star property based on Western standards. You could tell that this hotel appeals very much to tourists, especially foreigners given its more western feel despite the more traditional interior. 

The room is pretty large and has an en-suite bathroom with hot water. It can be very cold in winter time as no heater. The cleanness is average for Tibet 

The hotel breakfast is simple, as far as Western options are concerned with toasts, fruits, coffee, milk and butter, dairy.

This is the best hotel in Shigatse, it is advertised as 5-star, but more like a 4-4.5 star level. It is located in central Shigatse and good place to walk around and look at the shops. It is a newly built hotel and in good condition.   

The lobby looks imposing with that giant old tree trunk that makes you appreciate the very high ceiling. Tibetan decorations are tasteful and not so much kitschy. You will definitely need your guide to facilitate check-in as none of the front desk personnel spoke English. 

Room itself is decent in size and clean with minor issues such as water heater taking too long to warm up and bath area needs more cleaning or Repainting. However it's the best and cleanest. The bathroom is a little small but well organized. Breakfast is buffet and very Chinese.

The Manasarovar Hotel is a 3-star hotel in Shigatse, it is used by foreign groups frequently as good price and value.  Centrally located in the city center. It is a beautiful hotel with painted walls and ceilings fitting into the Tibet theme. Easy walking to restaurants and shops. 

The room is good size and comfortable, no heating but has air-conditioning, it might be very cold in winter time, but you can ask for 2 quilts, or you can bring a sleeping bag to keep self warm in winter.   Breakfast is a buffet with both western and chinese dishes. It is just ok. The couryard and entrance look good and inviting. It is about 20 minutes walk to the old town, so location is just ok but perfect.
