Lhasa Tour & Surrounding
Lhasa is the capital and spiritual center of Tibet. It sits in the center of the Tibetan Plateau at an elevation of 3,600 meters and is easily accessible by flight or train from major cities in mainland China. For these reasons, Lhasa is the ideal first stop for travelers visiting Tibet. Lhasa is at an elevation that is relatively lower than other areas of Tibet, so staying here for 3 days will allow travelers to get acclimated to the high altitude. There are many important historical and cultural sites in Lhasa, including Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple, Norbulingka, Sera Monastery, and Barkhor Street. The first three places area UNESCO world heritage sites.
When you come to Tibet, stay a few days in Lhasa to acclimatize and appreciate the local culture, Tibetan architecture, and historic sites before you continue on to explore the other wonders of Tibet. If you plan to visit other areas in Tibet such as Namtso Lake, Yamdrok Lake, Shigatse, Mount Everest, Rongbuk Monastery, or Mount Kailash we can help you get there.
Whether you plan to stay in Tibet for only a few days or stay for a few weeks, Lhasa should be included in your itinerary. We have some popular 3 to 6 day Lhasa tour itineraries for you to choose from or tell us more about your travel plans and let us help you get started. Lhasa is just the beginning.
